The NCCHR is a museum of experiences rather than objects. Envisioned by architect Philip Freelon, the institution honors Atlanta’s civil rights achievements, and encourages visitors to connect the history of America to the broader global human rights movements of today. The exterior is composed of two curved walls, which resemble interlocking arms, cradling the building’s glass-paneled central core. A shining example of how beautiful design can inspire and represent the values of the community it serves, the architecture of the NCCHR conveys the ideals of unity and equality for all.
