Not sure which style fits your bath? These definitions may give some insight
Drop-in or Self-rimming Sink
These sinks have a rim or lip around the outer edge of the sink. Easy to install, they are dropped into a hole in the counter. They may have a faucet deck integrated into the design or the faucets are to be installed directly on the counter or from the wall. If faucet holes are part of the design make sure your faucet hole spread matches. Drop-in Sink →

Vessel Sink
A vessel sink sits on the bathroom counter (often referred to as above counter sink). The vessel may be designed with a deck to hold the faucet or will need a vessel faucet installed on the counter or from the wall. Sinks with a deck will hold a standard height (usually single hole) faucet. With out the deck, a vessel faucet will be needed. Vessel Sink→

Semi-recessed Sink
This style is a cross between a vessel and a drop in sink. In fact, a vessel is dropped into a hole smaller than the rim. The result is a rim that extends partially above the counter. Semi Recessed Sink→

Undermount
This lavatory sink is mounted under the counter. Only the inside is seen. Look for two measurements: interior will be what is seen, exterior will be the amount of room needed under the counter. Faucets for an undermount will be installed on the counter or from the wall. Undermounted Sink→
Pedestal Sink
A pedestal sinks sits on a single column. Their space saving design can be find in traditional, modern and transitional styling. Pedestals have faucet holes built in; either single hole, 4" centerset or 8" widespread so be sure to select your sink before your bath faucet. Pedestal Sink →
Console Sink
Console sinks have two or four legs for support. The bottom of the sink is open so be sure to get a decorative p-trap or bottle trap. Water supply lines should also be fully finished (usually selected to match the faucets). Console Sink→
Bathroom Vanity
A vanity in the simplest terms is a piece of furniture or cabinet that holds the bathroom sink. Vanity drawers or doors (that hide shelves) provide plenty of uncluttered storage. The line can become blurred between consoles and vanities so be sure to check out both styles. Vanity Sink→
Wallmount Sink
Wall mount sinks are another great space saving design. Some come with covers for the trap, others all plumbing is exposed. Like console sinks, exposed plumbing is usually matched to the faucets. Wall mounts are ADA compliant when hung at the proper height. Wall Mount Sink →
